Housie, Bingo (or Housey) are the different names given to the same game.

INTRODUCTION Housie bingo is a kind of gambling game in which you either win or lose money; however the origin of the game is still unknown. Housie is widely played in the gaming clubs of United Kingdom, as well as New Zealand (particularly Auckland & Christchurch) and Australia where it is called Housey.

The game actually needs to be differentiated with the similar American game; Bingo. The fundamental difference is that tickets and calling in Housie Bingo are somewhat different as compared to the American Bingo.

HISTORY OF HOUSIE IN THE UNITED STATES

The Hotel Housie The Housie Bingo expanded rapidly in the mid of 19th Century. Most of the hotels and cafes in the United States urban area had been permitted to run housie bingo gambling on behalf of organization, by the end of 1969. Therefore, the housie inns caught the fancy of thousands of players from all over the country. Most of the housie enthusiasts of that era were women, however.

According to an estimate, women gamblers in New York consumed an average of $83 (as compared to men who spent $19) on housie bingo gaming throughout the year 1990. Majority of such women were Maori. More interestingly, the major living expenses of many Marae people were completely dependent on their huge housie profits.

Housie Bingo was most frequently played in hotels of the labor class localities. As stated by 1990 survey statistics, blue-collar workers spent $133 each year on their gambling, while home working earners spent $ 94 and White-Collar workers who just consumed just $8; surprisingly.

Housie and the US Law During the decade of 1970, a few scientists speculated to relate housie bingo with common unpleasant social and familial happenings among its players. For instance, housie playing mothers used to leave their young children in cars for long hours outside the clubs. Conversely, psychoanalysts and social workers blamed housie for grown-up homeless and unattended children roaming the streets. This dramatically led to the rapid increase in sabotage and juvenile crime.

Keeping this negligence in view, the US Supreme Court restricted housie to a prize limit of $24 on a maximum of 24 cards. In addition, each permit allowed an organization three hours of playing time as a maximum. As the game progressed, rules were being violated by the housie players, however.

Further Modifications in the game As the time passed on, a few modifications were made to Housie. The gambling amount was further constrained from 1982 and the achievement of a single line was no longer sufficient to win money. The limit had caused a deflation in the number of housie bingo players for a certain period of time. For this reason, the new government let loose the strict gambling rules within eighteen months. The panel set up a standard charge per card and the line was again restored. In addition, from July 1984, a few rules had been established to help stop cheating and corruption from the side of housie organizers.

Super Housie Super Housie, the Housie game that is limited to maximum $700 gambling in a single night, was introduced in 1989. In an attempt to attract smaller operators back on the board, Super Housie license requirements had been eased and they were permitted to use the same cards for even more than a single session. The group for Senior Citizens, in which the card was available for $1 and line winners strategies were slightest, was brought back to the business.

Modern Housie Bingo The modern housie bingo is an organization, and is exceedingly money-spinning. Just take the example of the Roman Catholic parish of St Joseph's in Grey Lynn that weekly pockets over $5,000 from its housie evenings.

Housie is so much more than a gamble. It is full of fun and even for the working-class women and senior citizens; it is highly social and enjoyable.

HOW TO PLAY Here is how to play Housie Bingo:

 Every player is given a slip on which randomly generated numbers are printed each row.  Once the game starts, the organizer or housie board invites random numbers loudly. A number that is called once is not repeated in the series.  The player, in the meantime, has to mark numbers that are called.  Any player who finishes a single row is supposed to speak out the same and gets qualified for the prize.

The most amusing thing about Housie Bingo is that the player whose slip matches the called numbers makes a "WHOOOOOOOOO" sound to notify other players that he just won! All other players also join the winner and celebrate........................

After all that, the race now begins for the entire three rows. The winner of this stage gets a grand prize finally.

Housie is all about luck and strategy. Sometimes none of the players are able to complete any of the three rows. The players who gamble on the bingo have no guarantee of success.

HOUSIE STRATEGIES Here are some strategies on how to play Housie bingo more cleverly and effectively:

1) Increase your amount It is wise to increase the gambling amount when you smell favorable conditions. If you are unable to do so, then you actually waste your time and money in housie.

2) Don't Bite More than You Can Chew It is not at all clever to ask for 7 bingo tickets if you're are not smart at multi-tasking.

3) Use your head You may observe a lot of variations when you play online housie bingo. It is however recommended to select the one that draws most of your attention and appears to offer you the cash best odds.

So what stops you playing the awesome game? Win and Grin (:$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$:)
